Oil painting of Fritz by John Dyess

This portrait painting of a model named Fritz was painted in the early 1990’s. I used the “paint the color spots” way of seeing that I learned from the book Hawthorne on Painting that was featured in my previous blog.

This painting was my second painting of Fritz and took about two hours. I painted larger “spots of color”. Both the paintings of Fritz were done in oil paints.
