Apollo 13 illustration by John Dyess

During the middle years of 1970’s I worked on a campaign as an employee of Maritz Motivation Co.  called “Team Power”. This was a “stock campaign” of 10 illustrations created by me and included other promotional items that could be imprinted by clients of Maritz. “The teamwork of thousands brought them home” was a tag line for my illustration of the crew of Apollo 13. This was a collage illustration that included; a hand colored black photostat of the moon, a black photostat of a drawing by me of the crew which I hand colored and the Apollo spacecraft and Earth that I painted on black paper. These elements were glued together on illustration board. Offset printing size was 10″ wide by 10.25″ high. The final was about twice these dimensions. This was created before computers and the internet.
