Travel illustration for mailer

This is an early illustration I created while working at Maritz Motivation Company. It was printed on the inside of a  mailer that was sent to the dealers that sold  air conditioning units. The base plate was a black ink drawing and the green, blue and red colors were  black overlays that were printed in color on offset  printers.

When the dealers sold a lot of units they won a trip to Venezuela, which would probably not be a destination now. Back in the seventies bull fighting and salt water fishing were a popular activity for tourist. I’m glad bull fighting is not so popular now. Back in the seventies sales incentives worked but in today’s economy I think dealers are just happy to be able to stay in business. My wife’s cousin owned  a heating and air conditioning dealership in North Carolina for many years but had to close the doors several years ago .

First page of mailer.
