Day Lily watercolor painting by John Dyess

This Friday post is also used as a teaching assignment for the illustration class I teach at Meramec Community College. This painting of a Day Lily was created using liquid acrylic and graphite pencil on illustration board. I drew the Day Lily in pencil on white illustration board ,drew a pencil grid around the flower, and then colored the drawing, with liquid acrylic using an airbrush and sable round brush.
