The following is an excerpt from an article about Maritz, Inc. from the St.Louis Post Dispatch on Wednesday ,
January 29, 1975. I was employed as an illustrator at Maritz from 1969 until 1980.
“Two important St. Louis industries loom up at motorist heading southwest on interstate 44 in Fenton. One ,the Chrysler assembly plant ,looks like the grade school textbook illustration of a traditional manufacturing industry.
The other, Maritz, Inc. looks far more like the campus of a junior college, with its handsome brick buildings and well landscaped grounds.” by Sally Bixby Defty of the Post Dispatch Staff
Now the Chrysler plant has been torn down and Maritz is a different kind of business than it was in 1975.
This week, I will be writing posts about my time at Maritz.
