This illustration, for General Electric, was in my art closet that I was cleaning out this weekend. It was painted in Acrylic on illustration board and was based on a slide photograph that was in the Maritz Motivation Company slide reference library. General Electric was scheduled to go to Moscow in 1980 on a trip facilitated by Maritz. All the posters and mailers were printed, but were never used, because the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. The United States boycotted the Olympic Games that year, and General Electric cancelled the trip. I believe they went to a Caribbean Island instead.
This illustration was created using pencil and Dr. Martin’s Dye on Mat board, and was based on a slide from the Maritz library.
This is a sketch of a model done at a local painting group attended by me and other St. Louis illustrators like Lee Brubaker,Bill Vann,Mike Foley and Don Kueker.
