“bp FOOD” painting by John Foster Dyess

This oil on canvas print painting is from a photograph I took about eight years ago.It is 17″ wide by 11″ high. This painting is one of a series of paintings of Missouri roads and highways.
This painting is about observing and recording a moment in time that will be constantly changing. Automobiles will change, businesses will change, and people in automobiles and trucks will need gasoline and food.
Where were the cars and trucks on the right side of the painting going?

BP pit stop

I took this while driving on Missouri highway 70 about four years ago and since then the BP station has burnt down. This image reminds of a stock car race with some of the cars taking a pit stop. I have simplified the shapes and enhanced this photo with a photoshop paint brush.
