Time final

This image I created will be included in a gallery show of my visual art in the Gallery Within Webster Groves Christian Church. It is based on photographs that I took of various clocks.This digital image was created at least five years ago. I recently printed this image on a canvas wrap print and today I started to paint over the print with oil paint. The print is 24″ x 24″. My show opening will be Sunday May 20 4:00 to 6:30pm. I will place quotes and verses from songs on the galley walls next to my painting. I want to create a narrative about life, social justice, diversity and preserving our planet, by the arrangement of my art and the words of others and myself.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, a time to reap that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Ecclesiastes  chapter 3  verses 2-8  Old Testament

Sophia's whale drawing

This drawing was created by my granddaughter Sophia the same day that she drew a “cat wearing a hat, that I shared on my previous blog post of January 17. My wife is a graphic designer and I am a illustrator/painter/photographer, and I ofter share my visual images and my wife’s designs and personal art. My blog posts are mostly about visual art and artists. The name of my blog “journal of seeing” describes what my posts are about.
Thanks for stopping by and viewing my post about Sophia’s drawing.

place mat design by Jack Thorwegan Maritz 1973

Jack worked in the next cubical to me at Maritz in 1973. He was there about three months while waiting to start a design business. He had a very successful career and was well respected in St.Louis.

another design by Jack Thorwegen created while working at Maritz Motivation Company.

I enjoyed working at Maritz for eleven years and left,not because I wasn’t having a lot of fun creating illustrations, but because I wanted to start my own illustration business in 1980.I wanted to show sum of the creative art by other artists at Maritz and to show that some of this art still looks current.
