Day's-End

“Day’s End” painting by John Foster Dyess

This oil on canvas print painting is from a photograph I took about eight years ago.It is 17″ wide by 11″ high. This painting is one of a series of paintings of Missouri roads and highways.
This painting is about observing and recording a moment in time that will be constantly changing. Automobiles will change, businesses will change, and at the end of a day the Sun will set,  as long as we still have a planet.

This photo of steps and three traffic cones  was taken at Webster groves Christian Church at sunset. Light was coming inside through an exit door window. I was at a drawing session of a costumed model and took this photo during a break.

This photo was taken about halfway through my taking photos at sunset for ten minutes on March 2,2013. These colors in these photos were not enhanced and are very close to the colors I saw that evening.
